BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Your questions.
A clearer direction.
What does an MLO do?
A Mortgage Loan Originator helps borrowers navigate mortgage applications and financing options. In Florida, activities such as taking applications or negotiating loan terms require the appropriate license unless an exemption applies.
Where should I take the course?
Choose an NMLS-approved provider and confirm that the specific course meets Florida’s education requirements. Compare the format, schedule, tuition and exam preparation included before enrolling.
How long does the process take?
Your timeline depends on your course schedule, exam availability, application completeness and regulatory review. Plan around those steps rather than a guaranteed approval date.
Does an orientation call guarantee a license or a job?
No. The call is a chance to discuss your questions and career goals. Florida OFR makes licensing decisions; employment and company affiliation are separate processes.
